Our 4th of July: Part 1 (Week 27)

So its been a week since I have posted... entirely to long! But we were out of town for a nice little vacation and although I had my laptop there was no time to jump on it so here we goooo! We would have always been going somewhere or doing something for the 4th had Chris been home. We do every year so this year, even though Chris was not home, would be no different. I did not have class last week so I took a few days off work, took a vacation week from Audrey's preschool and took off out of Oregon for the week :) And I am so glad we did! From Monday morning until Thursday morning we went for a little break up to my dads. I have posted about life up there before: It is easy. Simple as that. 20 acres of country livin', quads, sunshine, campfire, and family. Just a relaxing few days to say the least. Then on Thursday we packed up and headed from central Michigan to central Ohio for a weekend in Columbus. I have a gazillion pictures so here is the first part of our 4th of July week in the country up  North!

Cousins (Audrey dressed herself if you can't tell) lol

Baby frogs

Tomboy

Towards the back of my dads property there is a muddy pond filled with frogs, tadpoles and fish... here are the poor guys who couldn't get away from Audrey!

And catching snakes

Campfires in jams :)

We got a lot of the bad storms that went through the area. We didn't have power for a few days which was kinda nice actually... a little break from technology!  While playing an intense game of volleyball in the heat it started pouring down rain and as we continued playing ended pretty messy. Needless to say, after a lot of mud this was my battle wound! After it starts to thunder and we had a ton of lightening we called it quits for awhile.

My sister has 3 pit bulls and my dad has a huge great dane mix so add Hudson in the mix and that is a lot of wet dogs. So no dogs were allowed in the house once they were wet from the storm... this was Hudson. He was miserable! Poor guy is not used to being out in the rain. All the other dogs were under the deck out of the rain while Hudson sat on the step begging to come in lol he is a little dramatic!

 He is so mad

This one is for Chris!

Friends!

It was into the 100s and my dad does not have a pool (some nonsense about us not being up there enough to use it) So we make do!

More frogs!

On the 4th we went down to the lake to watch the fireworks... Audrey was exhausted!

Pure Michigan

Watching fireworks

Not sure what the obsession with guys and fireworks are but we had some pretty decent fireworks that night at the house too!

So the first part of the week was really nice. Relaxing and hanging with the family. Catching frogs, battling the storms, riding 4 wheelers, laying out and doing a whole lot of nothing! On Thursday we headed to the Columbus to go to the zoo and water park down there. That post to come later!
