Cake Batter Buddies

This is definitely a Pinterest idea! I've seen it re posted numerous times and rumor has it that it only takes 10 minutes! My kind of dessert. Kind of an adaptation of Puppy Chow (which we also love) but I remember making that being kind of a daunting task the last time we tried. And then Audrey poured her cup of milk into my finished bowl of puppy chow. This was probably about a year ago and she is right... milk goes with cereal!!! Oh we had a mess!

Also, wanted to give it a try in advance since I was possibly thinking of making it for Cassy's baby shower which is next weekend already! Baby Carter will be here before we know it!
Okay as for the recipe:

- 5 cups of Chex cereal
- 1 1/2 cup Funfetti cake mix
-1/2 cup of powered sugar
- 10 oz vanilla almond bark
-Original recipe also called for 1 tsp of vegetable shortening to thin the chocolate. I didn't have any and I had no problems with the end result!

Melt the chocolate as directed on the package. Measure the cereal into a large mixing bowl then add the melted chocolate in.

This may have been Audrey's favorite recipe yet! Because she could eat all the ingredients! No uncooked eggs or meat. Just sugar!! Great.

Then just mix in the cake mix and the powered sugar!
Very easy :)

I have not tried a whole lot of desserts but I figured this was a perfect one to send to Chris! He will love it and it is so quick and simple if he wants me to send more it will be a simple thing to throw together!

I have no idea where that cheesy smile has come from lately! (Hey, at least it is a smile) But I can just imagine that same smile when she is 5 or 6 with no front teeth. Oh, she is getting to big to fast!!

We would make a tag for the treat box!
Audrey is becoming much more comfortable with the scissors.

To: Daddy
Made with love by: Audrey Grace

And out with the next care package they will go. Hopefully I will get it out this week because I know some little 3 year old that will be investigating this box for treats! Or Hudson for that matter...

This would be perfect for a little kids birthday party! Super quick, simple and cheap! Kids will love it and it really does taste like birthday cake. Will definatly try this for Cassy's baby shower because of course there will be kids there as well. Shoot, I even really like it! It is a hit all around.
(Ann, put me down for this instead of puppy chow. We can still call it "puppy something" to go with the theme.)

Have a great Friday and a great weekend everyone!! Audrey is staying at Grandmas tonight while I catch up on homework, recover from this sickness and I have class very early tomorrow. She does not stay away from home to often and this is the first time since Chris left that I will be home without her. So it may turn into an emotional evening tonight. Be on the look out for a post I am sure I will need some excuse to not work on homework!
