Tradition and family are two very important things to us. So when Chris would not be home for the holidays until December 23rd we refuse to let that get in the way of our traditions. Every year we drive down to Bowling Green and cut down our own Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving as a family. Well since he was not home for Thanksgiving that tradition would have to wait. We decided to wait until he got home on the 23rd to go get our Christmas tree... so we could do it together, as a family :) Anyways long story short my Christmas obsession took over and I could not wait until the 23rd to have a tree in the house. So I bought a little 3 feet fake tree so Audrey and I had a "tree" until Chris was home. Well Christmas has come and gone and I have become a bit attached to this little tree and just couldn't put it back into the attic with the other Christmas stuff. So we will make it an "All Seasons Tree"! I kept some winter/snowman stuff on it but we are ready for February so bring on Valentines Day!
I stuck it in the kitchen and it already has prelit colored lights I added some heart garland stuff I found at the dollar store but the "real decorations" Audrey and I made!
Lots of cut out hearts..
Some practice with scissors...
"This one looks like butt cheeks!"
-Audrey
Some lips..
And of course PAINT!
After letting the hearts dry I punched a few holes in the top and strung them on fishing line. You could use ribbon or string but I used all things we had at the house. Plus, we have tons of pink stuff around the house so this one was easy for us!
I used some tulle and pink ribbon for "garland" and our Valentines Day tree was finished!!
And yes, that is a tutu for the tree shirt! I made that 2 Halloweens ago for Audrey's costume but came in handy for our tree!
And just a picture I thought was cute of Audrey...
LOVE IT!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to do the same with my tree, but only because I wasn't really in the mood to take it down. But take it down I did. Of course, mine was way too big to leave up all year. I love your little tree!!!!!!!
