Father's Day

Another hard day on the deployment journey. There is something about the relationship little girls have with their daddy. Something about the way that Audrey and Chris are together it is different than what Audrey and I have but it perfect. There is something about the way her face lights up when we talk about him. Something about the look on her face that I picture when she sees Chris for the first time since January. So this Father's Day thank your father. Think about the ones who are away from their babies and who give anything to be home with them.

I was going through old pictures and decided to share some! This may be my favorite post yet :) Audrey is a complete Daddy's girl and I know she cannot wait for him to get home! I may or may not have sobbed the whole time while posting this :)

And that is where they end for now at Christmas from last year. But only a few more months and this will be over. What a great role model Chris is for Audrey. He really is a great father who would do anything for her. Makes me so proud and happy to have such an amazing person in our life. On the news today they said free admission for dads to the zoo, imagination station, etc. and it made me sad. We would be going somewhere, doing something, spending the day together. This year is different but that doesn't mean that Audrey and I will not try and make the best of it! Thinking of Chris a lot today and all the soldiers overseas away from their kids on this Father's Day. We thank you!

My Daddy is a Soldier

Author: Maria Sutherland
My daddy is a soldier
he’s often gone away
to some far off country
where he has to stay.
I really miss my daddy
and I’m not sure what he does
except he helps other people
who need him very much.
At night when I say my prayers
I ask to keep daddy safe
so that he can come home to us
and sit in his favourite place.
Some nights I can hear mommy cry
when she thinks I’m asleep
I know she misses daddy
and her sadness hurts real deep.
I know that a day may come
when daddy won’t come home
and it scares me even thinking
that we will be alone.
My daddy is a soldier
he’s often gone away
And I am so very proud of him
each and every day.
Come home to us daddy
When your job is done
I know that those people needed you
But they aren’t the only ones.
