Week 23!

Rollin' right along through June here! Summer classes are starting to get moving but the weather is beautiful and (most of the time) my time management is right on point! I have been planning out my weeks down to housework and grocery shopping and scheduling a time for it and doing it then. It has worked out beautifully and keeps me sane! Week 23 was a warm one and lots of outside time. Saturday while drinking my coffee I told Audrey to go get dressed to go outside and this is what she came out in...

Saturday morning dress up time!

But after some fairy dressing up we got our bathing suits on and headed outside! Great weekend!

Summer night outside! Our favorite!

On Thursday last week I had the pleasure of attending a benefit for a fallen Marine. I did not know him but he did tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He died here at home but his friends and family wanted to put a benefit on in his honor with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.

My friend Kat from school invited me as he was her friend and I went not knowing another person. I was nervous at first (totally out of my comfort zone, going to a bar alone) but I am so glad I went. What a great job they did on this benefit for such a great cause. I had so much fun and it was nice to get out for a little bit plus I won a bunch of stuff! Made me miss Chris even more though. Lots of Toby Keith playing, military stuff everywhere, and shout outs to Chris. (Kat was on the mic) But it made me even more proud of what he does and the sacrifices our troops make. The support for Cory was amazing and the support for Chris from a whole bar full of people who did not know him or our family was so great!

Thanks again for the invitation!

So week 23 of this deployment is over. A week of sunshine and support! Also, the Heroes Run is June 30th in support of Heroes in Action which is an organization which is near and dear to our family. They send care packages to Chris and other deployed troops every month as well as do a TON of work for veterans and their families here at home.

Visit the Toledo Blade website to register for this in support of our troops! Hope to see a lot of people out there! I would love a big group to walk this in support of Chris :) Contact me for more details!

Looks like the guys are trying to find ways to pass the time! We have been able to talk to him quite a bit lately and I hope life is going by quickly for him too. We have a date for them to leave Afghanistan as of right now. So the first week of September cannot get here fast enough! Should put him back in Ohio in the middle of September :) We all cannot wait! Until then life goes on as it has for the last 9 months. This week is another of routine with school and work with no major plans this weekend... maybe a trip to the zoo this week if we can fit it in. Flying right through June and before we know it we will be celebrating the 4th of July! Seems like Chris has been gone for so long but finally for the first time this week homecoming feels within grasp. Three months and counting! That is nothing compared to what we have already went through :)
