We gave another pizza recipe a go! For the Super Bowl we decided to make Pizza Pouches and Cheddar Cheese Stix. Welll we got it half right...
Lets start with the Pizza Pouches... super simply!
Crescent rolls kept in square pieces
Stuff with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and spaghetti sauce!
Throw them in the oven for 20 minutes and done!
Super easy!
Now comes the "hard part" the Cheese Stix
First we needed cheese...
Lots of cheese.. Audrey's favorite!
We whipped a half cup of butter then added 8oz of cheese
1 cup of flour and a little salt
And time for some mixing
What we initially ended up with was not quite "dough" so I double checked the recipe and everything seemed to match so we went ahead and added more butter to try and make it more doughy. First mistake.
But we did end up with some kind of dough after that so I figured we were on track to something.
At least this was fun for Audrey considering it would not end up edible.
We rolled them out as instructed but I had a bad feeling..
They do not look bad here but it dawned on me that we sort of just mixed butter and cheese... this would not be a good combo in the oven. Of course it would just melt.
And that is precisely what happened!
An epic fail in the kitchen was inevitable. But hey I am learning! I am not sure exactly what happened I thought my measurements of ingredients were on but with a busy 3 year old in the kitchen you never know what could have happened. Four weeks of wonderful recipes then a big fat fail. No biggie, the Pizza Pouches were a hit and next time maybe we will add some turkey bacon or sausage into the pocket!
I must admit I am becoming more comfortable in the kitchen. Starting to "throw things together" a little bit better. I roasted some vegstables last week too. Just threw some seasoning and a little bit of olive oil on them and they turned out wonderful!
