Heroes in Action

For the past 4 years now we have attended the Support the Troops rally in Point Place organized with the help of the Heroes in Action Military Support Outreach program. This past year was even more emotional for me but I am so glad we went! The Heroes in Action Organization is a very active group in the lives of military members, their families and our veterans. They send care packages monthly to our deployed troops, help with veterans and are such a vital support system for the families of the military members. While I knew Chris was signed up with them to receive care packages while deployed I was overwhelmed with emotion when Audrey and I received a care package here at home. Sitting between our doors last evening waiting for us was a shipping envelope covered with an American flag pattern. My stomach already started to turn... not in a bad way just because no matter who this package was from I knew it would remind of us Chris. I looked at the return address and smiled finding it was from Heroes in Action. It included a book for Audrey and they will send the same book to Chris that way they can read it "together", a wonderful letter written to Audrey as well as one for me and gift card for our family. As I began to open the package I began to cry (shocking I know) but I was so overwhelmed that complete strangers had so much love for us to send this package. Audrey asked, "why are you sad Mommy? I got a book!" I tried to explain I was not sad I was just overcome with emotion. It was nearly impossible to get through the letter written to Audrey(I mean read that thing! How heartful and personal) but I sucked it up and faked a smile for her as she was so excited about the book. What a wonderful surprise for the Miller girls! We are so very thankful for organizations like this!

Check out their website http://www.heroesinaction.org and sign up for their newsletter or "like" them on Facebook! They truly do so much for our military here and overseas and the military families are so very thankful! They are always in need of donations and volunteers to pack the care packages to send overseas! Check out this amazing organization!
